How Are Proudskin Products Made?
All Proudskin products are handmade by specialized artists with experience in prosthetic design and body-safe materials.
We use medical-grade, platinum-cured silicone, carefully selected for its durability, flexibility, and skin safety.
Different levels of hardness are combined depending on the product’s function, ensuring comfort, realism, and reliability.
To achieve natural tones, we use skin-safe cosmetic pigments, applied by hand.
Because each product is handcrafted, slight variations in color, texture, or finish are normal and part of the uniqueness of handmade prosthetics.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Proper cleaning is essential to keep your product hygienic and in good condition.
Daily Cleaning

- Wash your product before and after each use.
- Use water and neutral or mild, unscented soap.
- Rinse thoroughly and let it air dry completely.

Deep Cleaning
|
- Your product can be sanitized by boiling it in water for 2–3 minutes.
- Allow it to cool completely before removing it from the water, as silicone retains heat.

Lubricants
|
- Use only water-based lubricants.
- Silicone-based lubricants can damage the material and reduce the lifespan of the product.

After Cleaning
|
- Once fully dry, you may apply a small amount of baby powder or cornstarch.
- This helps maintain softness and prevents the silicone from feeling sticky.

Storage
|
- Store your product in a clean, dry place, away from dust and moisture.
- Avoid long-term contact with fabrics that may transfer dye.

Important Care Recommendations
To protect your product and extend its lifespan, please follow these guidelines:
- Do not use solvents, alcohol, or aggressive cleaning products.
- Do not use silicone-based lubricants.
- Do not expose the product to sharp objects, excessive friction, or direct fire.
- Do not overstretch the product beyond the natural capacity of the silicone.
About Color Changes
- Daily use and constant friction may cause slight discoloration over time.
- Products with external paint details are especially sensitive.
- Rough cleaning or excessive rubbing can accelerate color wear.
- This is considered normal wear and does not affect product safety or function.
Sexual Use & Safety
For products intended for sexual use:
- Always use a condom during penetration.
- Only use condoms with water-based lubricant.
- This helps:
- reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections
- protect the silicone
- keep your prosthetic clean and hygienic
The silicone used in Proudskin products is phthalate-free, non-toxic, and skin-safe, but penetration without a condom is not recommended.
